  • 1 cup dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 34 tablespoons milk
  • Crushed pistachios or almonds
  • Edible gold dust (optional, for a Dubai-inspired luxury finish)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, salt, ground cardamom, and saffron (if using). Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix to form a dough.
  2. Knead on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
  3. For the filling, heat cream and butter in a saucepan until steaming. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes before stirring until smooth.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the chocolate filling evenly, roll tightly from the long side, slice into rolls, and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
